What To Do If Your Cloud Machine Has Lag

Important Information

As of September 3, 2019, new Parsec users will no longer have the option to rent cloud computers. If you already have credits in your account on that date, you will have the option to keep adding credits and renting machines until January 1, 2020. After January 1, you will no longer be able to add credits to your account, and you will need to use your credits entirely by February 1, 2020. If you'd like a refund for your remaining credits, please click here.

Before you make a support ticket, please follow the following steps

Have you always had lag on the desktop and in games when connecting to a cloud computer?

YES: I HAVE ALWAYS HAD LAG ON THE DESKTOP AND IN GAMES

Answer:

If you have always had lag when connecting to Parsec cloud machines, there is likely something wrong with either the computer or device you are using to connect to the Parsec client computer.

Check our requirements here

Parsec minimum internet requirements

Parsec minimum hardware requirements

If you believe you meet these requirements, perform the following steps one at a time to discover the issue

  1. Windows users: Set DirectX renderer on your Parsec settings on your client
  2. Make sure you selected a cloud machine in the correct region by disconnecting, clicking manage under the name of your cloud machine and checking region - cloud servers work best when you are less than 2000KM away.
  3. In the Hosting Settings of your Parsec app on the cloud machine, use Basic Settings and set the slider to Best Performance
  4. In the Hosting Settings of your Parsec app on the cloud machine, change the Video Resolution setting to 1280x720
  5. Disconnect and return Parsec client settings to default and turn VSYNC Off.
  6. Close background apps on your client device.
  7. Move closer to your WIFI router / plug in to internet via Ethernet cable.
  8. Reboot router and computer
  9. Remove any "WIFI boosters" or "Ethernet over powerline" systems from your home, or if you are using a mesh WIFI system like Google WIFI, turn off everything but the primary base station.
  10. Disconnect other devices from your network (eg other computers, cellphones, smart devices).

If none of these work, create a support ticket

NO: I HAVE ONLY EXPERIENCED LAG ON THE DESKTOP AND IN GAMES FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF HOURS / DAYS

Answer:

Please perform the following tests on your cloud machine

NETWORK TEST

1. Open Command Prompt

2. Test all 3 ping address' listed for your region by copying the commands for your region into Command prompt and pressing enter.

3. If the cloud machine is unstable, the time=XXms will vary wildy on each new line. A variation of 1-2ms is not unstable but a variation of 10-50ms is.

4. Create a support ticket with the results of all three commands (Create the ticket from the cloud machine so you can copy and paste).

If the results appear stable, then it is probably your local internet connection or computer that is slow, follow the steps under "Yes I have always had lag on the desktop and in games".

  7. In the Hosting Settings of your app, change the Video Resolution setting to 1280x720
  8. Open Parsec settings on client and disable VSYNC and reconnect.
  9. Try Windowed mode on Parsec by clicking the blue Parsec button while connected.
